Sony Seeks to Rectify Update 2.04 Nightmare, Soon

February 24, 2015 —Despite there being no concrete date set, Sony blog manager, Fred Dutton, publicly announced a major update is due sometime in the near future. The news was delivered via his own blog on February 22, 2015.

This is possibly in an attempt to subdue angry PS4 users after last week’s firmware nightmare. Sony’s firmware update 2.04 featured error messages CE-32937-4 and SU-30709-9 for users attempting to download the update. Some claim that the update had resulted in messenger instabilities and other minor malfunctions, which also have yet to be addressed.

The Playstation Lifestyle blog teases that the next update may add a  friend notification feature, rumored from the Sony leak in December. The site also mentions a recent (uncited) report, suggesting the PS4 may get custom backgrounds with the next major update.  Although these are just rumors, they are exciting prospects none-the-less.

A PS Vita update is due in March, it’s likely that users can expect the PS4 firmware update to coincide.
