E3 2015: XBOX Press Conference

Kicking off the first of the console press conferences, Microsoft spent over an hour previewing everything from Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, to Halo 5: Guardians, to The Division, as well as announcing 360 to Xbox One backwards compatibility and Microsoft’s Hololens. With their impressive presentation, there’s a pretty massive amount to cover, so let’s get to it.

AAA Games

  • Halo 5: Guardians
    • Set to release on October 27, 2015.
    • More detailed campaign information revealed.
    • New ‘Warzone’ multiplayer mode where AI mixes in with real players.
  • Fallout 4
    • Cross-platform mod support.
    • Fallout 3 to be included with copies of Fallout 4 purchased for the Xbox One.
  • Forza Motorsport 6
  • Tom Clancy’s The Division
  • Rainbow Six Siege
    • Buyers will also receive a copy of Rainbow Six Vegas and Rainbow Six Vegas 2.
    • Set to release this October 13.
  • Gigantic
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Fable Legends
  • Gears of War: Ultimate Edition
    • A remake of the original Gears of War, this remake is set to run at 1080p at 60 frames per second, according to Microsoft.
    • Will be available on August the 25th.
  • Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2
  • Dark Souls 3
  • Rare Replay
    • In celebration of Rare’s 30th anniversary, 30 classic Rare titles like Conker’s Bad Fur DayBanjo and Kazooie, and Battletoads will be made available through the Xbox One later this year on the 4th of August.
  • Sea of Thieves
    • Latest title by Rare that sets the player on the high seas as a pirate in this multiplayer adventure.
    • Set to come out during the Holiday season in 2016.
  • Gears of War 4
    • Slated for a 2016 Holiday release in the gameplay trailer reveal.

    • 1930’s Cartoon-inspired bullet-hell with co-op.
    • Slated for a 2016 release for the Xbox One.

Xbox Hololens

  • Microsoft building a new version of Minecraft for Hololens.
  • More to be announced later at this years MineCon.

360 / Xbox One Backwards Compatibility

  • Xbox One will soon be able to play Xbox 360 library.
  • Currently over 100 titles will be featured on the list of compatible games by this holiday season.
  • Xbox 360 discs won’t work natively with the Xbox One but will initiate a download for the compatible version.

Xbox One Elite Controller

  • Release Date: October 2015
  • $150, Customizable controller
  • Capable of remapping key as well as D-pad commands.

EA Access

  • EA Access available this week for Xbox Live Gold Members
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition and Titanfall set to hit the EA Access vault later this year.

Xbox Game Preview

  • Microsoft’s take on Steam’s Early Access model, allows users to try those not-quite-finished games before actually making the financial decision to purchase it.
  • Popular Early Access title DayZ and The Long Dark as well as others are being made available through this service.
